BYC 2025 Qualifiers

The BYC Qualifiers that are coming up in February. Registration is open now and you can register via the Sport 80 link below. Dates and details about the competition follow.  

 

West Midlands Region Fencing - EPEE BYC Qualifiers       

2nd February 2025 to 2nd February 2025

PACKWOOD HAUGH SCHOOL, Ruyton Xi Towns, SHREWSBURY, Shropshire, SY4 1HX

 

Registrations open 22nd November 2024 1:00 PM (GMT)

Registrations close 30th January 2024 11:59 PM (GMT)

 

Entries are open in Sport 80 for the BYC Epee Qualifiers on Sunday 2 February 2025:

 

Check-in closing time for Epee:

Due to the number of entries for the BYC Epee qualifier this weekend we've taken the decision to adjust the check-in times for the U14 girls, U16 boys and U16 girls.  The check-in times are now:

 

09:00 - U10 Boys and Girls, U12 & U14 Boys

09:30 - U12 Girls

10:30 - U14 Girls

11:30 - U18 Boys and Girls

12:00 - U16 Boys and Girls

 

PLEASE NOTE

The under 10 competition is NOT a BYC qualifier and as such does not qualify the fencer to a BYE or to represent the West Midlands in the final next year (2024 or 2025).

 

Age group categories:

U10: Born in 2015, 2016, 2017 Size ‘0’ blades

N.B Under 10 Entry fee and the entry age is only this 3-year window.

U12: Born in 2013, 2014 Size ‘2’ blades

U14: Born in 2011, 2012 Size ‘2’ blades

U16: Born in 2009, 2010 Size ‘5’ blades

U18: Born in 2007, 2008 Size ‘5’ blades

(Fencers may only enter for the born year date groups above.)

 

Entry fee: £30.00 (Late entry £50 at organiser discretion)

Entries close 30 January 2025.

N.B. Under 10 Entry fee only £15.00 (late entry +£10) and the entry age is only the 3-year window shown above.

 

If we are forced to cancel the event or if a fencer cancels before the closing date, a refund will be given subject to an admin fee of £4 to cover non-refundable costs.

 

BYES: In the case of a Bye, you should receive an email from British Fencing. You are required to enter the regional qualifying competition (£30.00 or £50.00 including late fee), but you do not have to fence.

 

Please indicate if you wish to fence in the regional qualifier.

 

Entries received after the closing date may be accepted at the organiser’s discretion, at £50 per person for all age groups except U10s at £25.

 

Competition format: One round of poules, everyone promoted to Direct Elimination.

 

Requirements: BFA 'Compete' level membership (will be checked online) will be required. It is recommended that fencers join the BFA online.  All fencing clothing and equipment must comply with BFA regulations (see guidelines).

 

Fencers must wear full kit including breeches and long socks.

 

Anyone who can help referee will be greatly appreciated. Please let us know when you check-in.
